Core Analysis
A gifted idealist whose disgust with crime becomes moral absolutism, then narcissistic authoritarianism. Light Yagami does not simply find power; power reveals the god waiting inside his idea of justice.
Light Yagami's psychology is transformation through permission. Before the Death Note, he is intelligent, bored, disciplined, and morally offended by a world that seems beneath its own ideals. The notebook gives him more than a weapon. It gives him confirmation that his private judgment can become reality. At first, he imagines himself as the only person brave enough to do what justice requires. That self-image is the first corruption.
As Kira, Light moves from reformer to absolutist to authoritarian narcissist. Every death that protects his project becomes morally necessary because the project and the self have fused. L threatens him not only as an investigator but as the one person who denies his divinity by treating him as a suspect. Misa, Takada, Mikami, and even family become pieces in the architecture of his self-deification. Light's tragedy is that his original hatred of evil becomes a structure where only obedience to him counts as good.
